SESSION INFORMATION

sIf you are That General Info:

When you arrive at the studio, we will go through the clothing you brought and decide which looks we think will work the best for what you need. We will also talk about any concerns you may have with certain looks of clothing. Feel free to bring in as many clothing options as you would like. The more options we have the better!

Once the shooting begins I will start to coach you into positions that will help you look your best in photos. A huge part of my work is looking through the photos with you while we shoot. I shoot “tethered”. This means the camera is directly connected to my computer which means we can view the photos on a large screen periodically. By doing this we can see what we like and what we don’t like about the photos. This is also a great way for me to coach you into whatever look we are going for.

Please keep in mind that it is your responsibility to let me know while reviewing the photos if there is anything you think needs some improvement. Once the session is over you are going to need to work with the shots we have created. Also, keep in mind I cannot control what other people (family, friends, agent, manager, boss etc) will think about the photos once you leave the studio. If after your session you have doubts about your images, you can book another session at my returning client discount.

Clothing and Jewelry:

Shooting multiple shirts will help us get some variety in looks for your different marketing needs. It is really good to have options in this department. Your outfit will change the vibe you give off in front of the camera and we will want to play with this throughout the shoot. Headshots tend to work best with solid colored shirts so they are not too distracting. The most important thing to think about when choosing clothes for your session is, do you feel confident when wearing them? I never put a limit on the number of shots I take per look, or for the session. We will keep shooting a look until we feel we have got what we need. If you do not bring a piece of clothing, we can’t shoot with it, so if you are on the fence about something bring it anyway and we will discuss it in person. Also, if you feel like your outfit choices need a little fine tuning, go shopping. We can keep the tags on and you can return the items you don’t want to keep.

I usually steer people away from wearing jewelry in their headshots. It distracts from the thing people are looking for, YOU. That being said, if you usually wear jewelry of any kind, I want it to be in your headshot! Generally small earrings and necklaces can work well. Feel free to bring in some options to go through together.  If you have any questions about this please reach out, I would love to answer.

Makeup:

If you don’t usually wear makeup, then you shouldn’t for your shoot.

If you do wear makeup, keep in mind that for your photoshoot the more natural looking makeup the better. Avoid using a powdered foundation or coverup. The powder is easily visible. A liquid foundation or coverup is preferable. Avoid lots of color in eye shadows, instead, stick to more earth tones. I want the photos to show off you, not your makeup.

Hair:

Hair is such a personal thing that I ask everyone to come in “hair ready” as they would look on a good hair day. Show up to the studio the way you would like to look for an audition or interview. If your hair is long enough for a ponytail, try to bring something that will hold it. I may want to try one with you at some point during the shoot.

Choosing Which Shots to Use:

At the end of the session, we will sit down together and go through the shots we liked throughout. We will begin to narrow down the shots and get down to a more manageable number. Feel free to ask me my thoughts throughout this process. This is a collaboration and I am here to help you choose. In the end, we will have it narrowed down to the shots you would like to purchase.

Retouching:

Once you choose the photos you would like retouched I will get started on them ASAP. I do not go crazy with retouching. I want the image to look like you. I definitely want it to be an accurate representation of you for your uses. My retouching is focused on color correction, exposure correction, and minor blemish removal. Please contact me if you have any questions regarding the retouching process.

All photos are $100.00 per image (includes retouching).  I do not release unedited photos.

If you need any of the images delivered the same day as the shoot it is $50 per image.

Your retouched photos will be delivered to you in the form of a digital download as high res JPEGs. Please let me know if you have any specific requests for your delivery format.

Things To Think About Leading Up To The Session:

– Drink lots of water (well hydrated skin looks great on camera).

– Get lots of sleep especially the night before.

– Eat before you come in.

– Relax (We will get some amazing images of you throughout the session).

Cost and Payment:

I require a minimum of 50% of the session payment in order to hold the date and time. If you are on this page you most likely have already paid that! That payment will go towards your shoot/images balance. All payments are subject to local sales tax. If for some reason you need to cancel your session, you will have 30 days to reschedule without the need for a new deposit. If you cancel within 24 hours of your session or don’t show up to your appointment, any rescheduling will require another deposit.

Keep in mind, that you should update your headshot around once every two years. If you make a big change to your appearance you may need an update sooner.

Thank you for taking the time to read through all of my session information. I know there was a lot to go through but I hope it helped and gave you answers to some of your biggest questions. If you still have any questions or concerns to run by me please fill out my contact form and I will get back to you.
